![]() ![]() I feel compelled, as a ride-or-die for Steve Harrington since his questionable beginnings as the local asshole in season one, to provide a definitive ranking of Steve’s ass-kickings, quantified by a formula involving karmic alignment, aesthetic appeal, and general vibes. There are Reddit threads dedicated to exploring why exactly these repeated beatdowns exist in relation to Steve’s character arc, a select subsection of tags on fanfiction websites dedicated to Steve’s continual beatings, and TikToks eloquently and simply captioned, “Steve getting beat up in every season lol.” This trope has become so apparent in the last four seasons, in fact, that subsections of the Internet have a small cultural obsession with the matter. Once again unable to admit he cannot fight, his fate is sealed for another brutal ass-kicking just a few episodes later. “It was kind of a bunch of things that all added up,” Steve offers, as a nonsensical explanation for his continued losses. ![]() Have you ever actually…won a fight?” As Dustin rattles off his previous beatings at the hands of Jonathan Byers (Charlie Heaton) and Billy Hargrove (Dacre Montgomery) to prove his point - “You got a fat lip, a crooked nose, swollen eye, a lot of blood…” Dustin lists - Steve remains in his same permanent state of completely unqualified overconfidence. In the first official canonical acknowledgment of Steve’s inevitable seasonal ass-kicking, Dustin sarcastically bites back, “Please, tell me this, and be honest. In the third season, as Steve and Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo) - one of the nerdy teenage friends Steve has accumulated throughout the series - try to concoct a plan to defeat the evil Russians that they are certain are plotting in the basement of the local mall, Steve announces that he will simply sneak up on a Russian guard and “take him out.” He’s young, dumb, pretty, and, most importantly, guaranteed to get his ass kicked once per season, usually with stunning severity. Volume 1 is out now.Stranger Things’ Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) has a simple, but pivotal duty in the series. Stranger Things season 4 part 2 will start streaming on July 1. To me, it doesn’t sound like Steve will die, but at least if he does die, I have faith the Duffers will give him a heroic ending. I take comfort in their original reaction, saying “everyone is worried about Steve!” with a laugh more so than the bat bite debunking. It’s not the most reassuring thing Matt could have said, but obviously as the showrunners, they don’t want to spoil their own show either. To which Matt says, “If he’s going to die, it’s not going to be from the bat bite.” So anyway, that was just me fixating on bats the moment I wrote that.”Īrthur follows up with, “So, he’s going to die in some other way?” ![]() That’s more my thing, I have this thing, I’m worried about bats. Then Arthur asks, “How lethal do we think being bitten by a demobat is?” The fact they are good-natured about how much people love Steve and understand how much fans like him is a pretty great sign for fans. Okay, so in the interview, interviewer Kate Aurthur says, “I’m worried about Steve.” And the Duffers laugh, adding that they fully realize “everyone” is worried about Steve! That fact alone is a good sign. Will Steve Harrington die in Stranger Things season 4 part 2? ![]() But we’ve got the full quote of what they said so you don’t have to watch the entire 30+ minute interview if you don’t want to (although I recommend it since they reveal a lot of interesting information). That said, they also did not deny that Steve could bite the dust in the final episodes. Surprisingly, instead of playing coy, they were pretty direct in terms of the theory going around that Steve will get interdimensional rabies or something from the demobat bite. In a new interview with Variety, Ross and Matt Duffer actually talked about Steve and the possibility of his death. Anywhere you go on the internet you’ll find people stressed that their beloved babysitter might perish before the final season. Everyone is worried about Steve Harrington and his potential fate in Stranger Things season 4 part 2. So, we’ve got a good news, bad news situation here. ![]()
